MINK

The mink is allowed to be taken from November 1st through December 15th. This aquatic member of the mustela family is found throughout Massachusetts. Once greatly prized, farm raised mink have long since flooded the market, making it much harder to gain a good price on wild mink. Large males may reach a total length of a foot or more. They are highly territorial, and like weasels, possess musk glands that are quite odiforous. They are adept hunters and prey on a variety of game, however their most popular food is muskrat meat. They are nocturnal, and active throughout the year.
